Jane Walker

17/02/2020 - 13/03/2020

POP^up Scunthorpe’s currents exhibition, Lines by Jane Walker is a solo exhibit showcasing a large body of her paintings.

Jane Walker makes 2D works using lines. The Lines are scratched through thick oil paint. These lines are cut in the sense of drawing; the earliest recorded writing of this practice is marks made by pressing a sharp tool into clay, often for counting. Jane’s lines come from drawings and photos taken outside. “I constantly draw outside, its my way of really looking at the world, I love light and movement”.

Since been a student at Sheffield, Jane gained an interest of industrial structures, often drawing the steel works and canal. A new idea surrounding Jane’s work has been the interpretations of musical notion. Jane recently has allowed musicians to play her paintings, a revolutionary for her practice.
