The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the closure of many venues in the U.K including art galleries. During the first lockdown the Pop Up Scunthorpe team wanted to continue engaging people through art and creativity to help with problems which came with lockdown including lack of purpose, motivation and boredom. The team gave followers a choice of prompts to vote on. Whichever prompt won the most votes was the theme for the week to create art work around. Themes included 'abstract', 'figure', 'nature' and 'lines'. Anyone and everyone was welcome to participate. The response was like wildfire - people with Masters degrees, amateur artists, seasoned professionals, students and children got involved. Over 80 artistic responses were featured on Pop Up's social media. Some of these responses were made into a video which can be viewed here.
